Summer is here! Which means that it is finally time to break ground on all of those home improvement projects that you have been planning through the winter months. We know that these types of projects are no small mission and our clients often times don’t know where to start.
You need to decide what changes to make and how, as well as how it can improve the value of your home. Next comes finding the right time to get started and more importantly, finding the right crew to do it. On top of that, your plans need to get accepted by the city.
Knowing the zoning district that your home is in and the limitations of that zone is a great place to start.
Bozeman.net has some great resources for understanding your zone, including interactive maps.
Your contractor will should be in the know about what kinds of projects are acceptable for your neighborhood as well as how to get these plans passed through the city, so picking a good one is key. You can always search your contractor on Angie’s List to see how they have been reviewed or go get a recommendation from Home Depot or Kenyon Noble. Even the “Ask Bozeman” Facebook group is a great place to get recommendations for a good contractor.
Good luck on all of those summer projects!
