Short Term Rentals, City Of Bozeman – FAQ

    After extensive debate the  Bozeman City Commission adopted regulations for Short Term Rentals (STR) that are effective as of December 1, 2017. City Of Bozeman Ordinance 1974. As of that date all units will have to comply.

    There are some fees that have been instituted:

    • $250 annual registration fee
    • One-time $225 fire inspection fee
    • Some homeowners will also need a $1,508 fee for a conditional use permit.

    The council  has said that after some time they will review the fee structure and make changes as needed.

    Owner occupied rentals, whether the owner is there during  the rental period or not, are allowed in most types of residential zoning districts.
