Sweet Pea Festival

When we talk about a Bozeman must do, Sweet Pea Festival is at the top of our list! Sweet Pea is a three-day festival that includes: live music, art booths, a parade, food, brews, and a Sweet Pea flower competition!

There is such a buzz in the Bozeman community around Sweet Pea and the organization gets a lot of support from donors and volunteers. During the week leading up to Sweet Pea, you can join in the fun of decorating the sidewalks with chalk for “Chalk Walk.” On the Wednesday prior to the festival, you can attend Bite of Bozeman where you can stop at a number of restaurants downtown and try bites of delectable food. On Thursday, of course, join in on the fun at Music on Main (read all about it on our blog here). The festival officially kicks off Friday afternoon with a live performance of Shakespeare in the Park and live music at Lindley Park. On Saturday morning you can enjoy the Sweet Pea Parade followed by visiting art booths, listening to music and dancing!

There are a number of ways that you can be a part of Sweet Pea other than just attending.

    Annual Poster Competition

There is an annual poster competition where local artists of any age can submit a design for the poster that is the “branding” for the Sweet Pea Festival. The artist of the winning design receives a $1,000 prize!

    Parade

The Sweet Pea parade is on Saturday morning and includes hundreds of floats that are designed by local businesses, organizations and nonprofits. Each float is unique but they all have to have flowers on display and of course, are encouraged to use Sweet Pea flowers.

    T-shirt Design Competition

This competition is separated into two categories; Children ages 5-13 and adults 14 and older. If a child wins the children’s age group they win $250 and the adults can win $1,000.

    The Sweet Pea Run

The Sweet Pea Run(s) is Saturday morning and you can register for the kids run, 10k or 5k!
